Sloping aire next to the football ground and village rubbish tip. All amenities (including electric hookup) for free and it was a quiet night. Donations box for upkeep of the aire... we guess not many people have donated given the state of the facilities, so we made sure we did! Stayed 1 night
Cruz do campo petrol station A petrol station visited on 17/02/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.554 Euros per litre
Valada wild camping A wild camping spot visited on 16/02/14
Car parking spaces next to the cemetery / behind the petrol station. There is another car park, but only accessible via a steep, cobbled ramp, which we estimated we would probably ground on. Very quiet village... we got a lot of funny looks from the locals. Navigating there was a little fun on narrow roads; one of which was closed due to flooding. Free stop - stayed for 1 night
Grandola aire An aire visited on 15/02/14
Aire to the north of Grandola; had many more lorries than motorhomes there though! Good, free facilities, including free wifi (although only a limited number of websites accessible... probably a DNS issue). Stayed 1 night
Aljezur petrol station A petrol station visited on 15/02/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.584 Euros per litre
Sagres wild camping A wild camping spot visited on 14/02/14
Popular wild camping spot in Sagres, right on the cliff-top with the beach just a 5 minute walk away. Not the most level ground, so most motorhomes were using levellers. No signs prohibiting camping or motorhomes, and there's a handy drain, but no fresh water. Stayed one night
Castro Marim aire An aire visited on 13/02/14
Aire just inside Portugal; very convenient for the border with Spain. Space for loads of motorhomes to park... which meant that there were loads of motorhomes there, and a queue for the facilities. Everything is free apart from the water (2 Euros for 100 litres). Stayed 1 night
La Palma del Condado petrol station A petrol station visited on 13/02/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.40 Euros per litre
Puerto de la Santa Maria campsite A campsite visited on 11/02/14

Filled up with petrol; 1.402 Euros per litre
La Línea de la Concepción car park A wild camping spot visited on 10/02/14
Bit of wasteland a few hundred metres from the Gibraltar border. There were loads of other motorhomes there, but very little else... and the entrance to the wasteland was flooded. Quite noisy during the night; stayed for 1 night
Castellar de la Frontera aire An aire visited on 10/02/14
We didn't actually stay here; just used it to empty toilet and grey water and top up our fresh water, but it looked very clean and flat
Marbella petrol station A petrol station visited on 10/02/14
Filled up with LPG; 76.9 Euro cents per litre
Rincón de la Victoria car park A wild camping spot visited on 30/01/14
Car park on the beach front packed with other motorhomes. There are clear "no camping" signs (meaning nothing should touch the ground other than your 4 wheels), but other motorhomes were blatantly disregarding this. Public toilets and beach showers are free, as is the parking. Stayed 1 night
Salobreña petrol station A petrol station visited on 30/01/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.399 Euros per litre
Motril car park A wild camping spot visited on 29/01/14
Dead end road next to the beach at Motril. No facilities, but plenty of space to park and there were lots of other motorhomes. Police did a drive-past and waved at us all, so they're obviously used to motorhomes stopping there. Free to stop. Stayed for 1 night
Venta del Peral aire An aire visited on 28/01/14
Basically a motorway service station... but it's far enough away from the autovia that there's not too much traffic noise, there's a proper motorhome service point with all of the facilities, plus they've got free wifi! Everything for free! Stayed for 1 night
Velez Rubio aire An aire visited on 27/01/14
Lovely aire with stunning views and great facilities. On a windy night it is a little exposed, and there are limited options for turning to face into the wind (the motorhome parking is slightly terraced). There's a sign saying it costs 5 Euros a night, but no indication of where to pay this... maybe it only applies in high season? Stayed 1 night
Lorca petrol station A petrol station visited on 27/01/13
Filled up with petrol; 1.394 Euros per litre
Ibi aire An aire visited on 26/01/14
Non-maintained aire in Ibi... there are remains of a water tap and waste disposal points, but they don't look operational. The parking area is surrounded by trees, giving some good shelter from wind and it's free (there's a sign saying you can stay for up to 4 nights). Stayed for 1 night
Alfafar petrol station A petrol station visited on 26/01/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.329 Euros per litre

Casa de Fusta aire An aire visited on 24/01/14
Restaurant car park in a nature reserve that has an area reserved specifically for motorhomes. Services cost 3 Euros (ask in the restaurant and they'll unlock them), but it's free to stay. Fresh water tasted a bit salty. It is quite an exposed spot and we were there on a very windy night! Stayed 1 night
L’Ametila de Mar petrol station A petrol station visited on 24/01/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.406 Euros per litre
Barcelona car park A guarded car park visited on 22/01/14
Guarded car park in the centre of Barcelona, within a stone's throw of Sagrada Familia. No motorhome facilities and a little noisy, but 20 Euros per night seemed cheap for peace of mind during day and night. Stayed for 2 nights
Figueres petrol station A petrol station visited on 22/01/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.37 Euros per litre
Figueres car park A wild camping spot visited on 20/01/14
Castle car park in Figueres. "No vigilat" means it's not a monitored car park, which means it's free to stay in overnight. Very handy for visiting the Dali museum. Popular with dog walkers, joggers, boy racers and "lovers". No motorhome facilities apart from a fresh water tap. Stayed 2 nights
Felines Termenes car park An aire visited on 19/01/14
Aire in the lovely village of Felines Termenes. It looks like there are facilities at certain times of year, including electric hookup... and all looks to be free. However, none of them were working when we visited! Stayed 1 night
Carcassonne aire An aire visited on 18/01/14
Motorhome car park for visiting the medieval city of Carcassonne. No facilities... just a car park! Tariff was free for the first hour, 5 Euros for the first 6 hours and free between 8pm and 8am. We arrived on Saturday at 3pm and left on Sunday at 7:50am, expecting to pay 5 Euros, but the barrier was up... maybe it's free on Sundays? Stayed 1 night

Agde petrol station A petrol station visited on 18/01/14

Lovely aire within a stone's throw of the beach. Facilities cost a Euro (we think... we didn't actually use them) - staying for the night was free. Originally stopped here for lunch, but saw it was so beautiful that we stayed 1 night
Arles aire An aire visited on 16/01/14
Pleasant aire by the river with official space for 5 or 6 motorhomes. Others were parked in the bus spaces though. The service point is free, but a little way away from the parking... which is also free. Stayed 1 night
Manosque petrol station A petrol station visited on 16/01/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.468 Euros per litre
Villeneuve aire An aire visited on 15/01/14
Lovely sheltered aire, although the access to it is via some rather steep slopes. Had all of the usual motorhome facilities, only the water wasn't working, so we ended up paying 3 Euros to use the motorhome service point at the Carrefour in La Brillanne. Otherwise, this aire was free. Stayed 1 night
Comps sur Artuby aire An aire visited on 14/01/14
Beautifully-situated quiet aire just through the village. Sadly all of the facilities were closed as it was out of season, but it was a lovely place to stop overnight before seeing the Verdon Gorge. Free. Stayed for 1 night
Menton petrol station A petrol station visited on 14/01/14
Filled up with petrol; 1.62 Euros per litre (as opposed to 1.75 Euros per litre just over the border in Italy!!!)
Ventimiglia car park A wild camping spot visited on 13/01/14
Car park that allows motorhomes to stay overnight; no facilities and quite a noisy location. We deduced that you only have to pay for parking there on a Friday... so it was free for us. Stayed 1 night.
Arma di Taggia marina A wild camping spot visited on 12/01/14
Wild camping spot on the marina, which is very popular with motorhomes. We tagged on the end, next to about 8 Italian motorhomes. There are signs saying no parking for motorhomes, but they're slightly ambiguous and may just refer to the other side of the road from where we parked. In any case, it was free and we only stayed 1 night (the other motorhomes looked liked they had bedded in for longer!)
Celle Ligure car park An aire visited on 11/01/14
Car park just above Celle Ligure, with several spaces for motorhomes to park in. It was very popular when we were there, with 5 or 6 other motorhomes parked. Sadly, the waste disposal facilities were the dirtiest we'd encountered, but hey, it was free. Stayed 1 night
Viguzzolo car park An aire visited on 10/01/14
This car park wasn't particularly well-marked as a place to stop for motorhomes, but there were a couple of motorhomes there already when we arrived, and a fresh water point. Quiet and free. Stayed for 1 night

Filled up with petrol; 1.669 Euros per litre
Cerea car park An aire visited on 09/01/14

Camping Fusina A campsite visited on 07/01/14
Campsite to the west of Venice, with pretty good facilities, but the main selling point is that it's open all year round. Not our first choice for the area, due to the cost (33 Euros advertised... but we were only charged 23 Euros a night), but it was the only one open on 7 January! Boat from here to Venice cost 13 Euro return... bus cost 2.60 Euro return (number 16, then change to number 6). We took the bus! Stayed here 2 nights

Forli car park An aire visited on 04/01/14
Car park in Forli with a very flashy motorhome service point! Parking and other facilities are free, aside from water, which is available at 10 Euro cents per litre... but we think it dispenses more than you pay for! Car park is quite large, but relatively quiet. Lots of other motorhomes. Stayed 2 nights

Filled up with petrol; 1.719 Euros per litre (self-service price)

Filled up with petrol; 1.759 Euros per litre

Oaks Oasis Retreat Centre A project visited on 22/12/13
We stayed at this lovely retreat centre in Porano over Christmas and New Year, being fed incredibly well! Whilst here we helped out with various jobs; the largest being clearing leaves from 24 oak trees in the grounds! We stayed here for 11 nights.
We would heartily recommend this retreat centre to anyone in ministry wanting a break (and really good food!).
More information about The Oaks Oasis

Patras windsurfing spot A wild camping spot visited on 16/12/13

Patras petrol A petrol station visited on 16/12/13
Filled up with petrol; 1.569 Euros per litre
Karathona beach A wild camping spot visited on 15/12/13

Camping Athens A campsite visited on 12/12/13
Well-placed campsite for having a day in Athens - just a short bus and metro ride into the centre. Website says there's a washing machine and tumble dryer... they're in a launderette 5 minutes up the road! Grey water disposal point not labelled, so we ended up emptying grey water with a bucket... until the owner pointed out the disposal point to us! 26 Euros per night - stayed 2 nights

Awesome wild camping spot (free to stay) next to some sulphurous hot springs which are free to bathe in. A restaurant/guest house that is perfectly situated for visiting the monasteries of Meteora. It's free to stay in a motorhome there overnight, and top up with fresh water (these are the only facilities), but I think the (very) friendly owners appreciate it if you eat a meal in the restaurant too. Incidentally, the food was delicious and a meal for 2 with 2 beers came to 25 Euros. Every time we walked into the guest house, the owner gave us a sweet! We stayed for 2 nights

Car park in the town of Vergina - there are 2 car parks; one that you have to pay for (1.50 Euro) and one for free - this one is the free one... but there are no motorhome facilities! Out of season, so really quiet and we weren't disturbed at all. Stayed one night
